Mini Bazaar correction

Hello, everyone!

A small correction to the announcement in the Newsletter - the Mini-Bazaar this Saturday (Dec 6) is from 9:00 a.m. to noon  (not 10:00 to noon).

While I am writing, I'd also like to mention the  Vigil for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women which is organized by the West Island Women's Centre and held in our Sanctuary this Saturday as well, at 4:00.  A meaningful time.

Finally to note:  Harry Wainwright, our treasurer, spoke last Sunday about our deficit, which as of October 31st was $38,000.  That seems like a daunting figure, and perhaps some were overwhelmed.  Let's not be.  The UCW has just donated $15,000 to local funds (WOW!).  Now that we have made that big step, lets see what folk can do as individuals and families so that we can end the year well!

December News!

Please find here the link to our latest Newsletter.  Look through the schedule of events closely!  Lots going on!

Debbie has bumped up the graphic appeal of the Newsletter - it was great before, awesome now!  Thanks, Debbie

While I am writing, just a quick note that your Joint Search Committee has already had its first meeting on the journey toward finding a new called minister.

The weekly bulletin has not been added to the PDF file (the last appendix), but it will simply be this week's bulletin.

You may download the file by clicking here.  It is 4 meg, so it may take a short while to download

Dress-up Sunday

Be an angel,

Be John the Baptist - before or after beheading

Be the Apostle Paul, dreading shipwreck

Be Samson - or Delilah, but be careful with the shears

Be Noah looking for the rainbow

Or be Martha or Mary welcoming Jesus

This (October 26) is dress-up Sunday - and adults and children alike are welcome to come to worship as their favourite Biblical character.

Joint Needs Assessment Report

From your Joint Needs Assessment Committee:

Here is the JNAC report that the Congregation will be looking at on
Sunday, October 26.  Please take the time to read it carefully, make a
copy and
bring it along with your comments to our meeting next Sunday after the
service.

The JNAC has worked very hard on putting together what we hope is an
accurate reflection of our congregation.

There will be a financial statement that will be added to the report.

Catharine Calderone,
Chair, Joint Needs Assessment Committee

The report is found at this address The File is 4 meg in size, so it may take more time than you expect to download.  This is because of the photos included.

Thanksgiving!

Greetings!

This Sunday's service promises to be another special one, as we celebrate Thanksgiving.  Musically, we are looking forward to a violin duet and an organ-oboe duet, along with a new anthem by the choir.  (Oh, and by the way, with all the other special stuff, the sermon will be 5 minutes or less - - time me!Smile

As well, the children will be doing their Thanksgiving procession (with canned goods), and their classes have a special program planned for this day.

I look forward to seeing you!
