A Place for Everyone

A neighbourhood's need for spiritual nourishment and Christian fellowship led to the formation of Valois United Church. This sense of community lives today in the warm welcome extended to one and all. The Valois United Church congregation provides many opportunities for people to share and to enjoy life - we sing and pray together; we learn from and teach each other; we share meals at the Lord's table and in the church hall; we laugh and celebrate good times; we support and care for each other during difficult moments; we create and share our talents; we are a Christian family who work and play together.

The Sunday worship service is the focus of our spiritual community. Following the lectionary, we worship at ten o'clock Sunday morning. We have a Sunday School programme for baby care to teen-agers. Every opportunity is given to members of all ages to participate in the service, be it as a greeter, a reader, taking up the offering, serving communion or singing in the choir. The choir practices Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 and, during the service, sings an anthem appropriate to the theme. Communion is celebrated eight times during the eyar and all who believe in Jesus are welcome at the Lord's table. Baptisms, weddings and funerals are all a part of our Church family life and may be arranged by contacting the Church office.

During the week, the Church building hums with activity. A Bible study group may choose to focus on a specific book of the Bible or on a social issue. The United Church Women and the United Church Men are always busy with activities and fund-raisers. The quilters, crafters and badminton group provide daytime activities, while Scouting and Guiding groups of all ages add laughter and adventure to the evenings. The "handy-folk" of the Board of Trustees frequently wander the building with tools or a paint brush and the gardens can always do weith weeding.

Valois United Church has a place for everyone - whatever your age, your talent or your ability.
