At Valois United church we feel that children are an integral part of parish life as well as the key to the future. For this reason, the participation of the children in parish life and our Sunday Service has always been important to us.
Children - an integral part of worship
During the first half of the service children of all ages remain with their families in the sanctuary. They participate various aspects of the service such as the collection team as well as reading prayers and Minute for Mission. This is a wonderful way for them to learn to express their love of God and to share it generously with others.
Half way through the service there is the Children’s Moment. Young children and elementary age children come to the front to sit with our minister. Here they get to have a chance to be close to our minister. There is always a smile or comment that brings a blush to mom’s and dad’s faces as well as a chance to learn about Jesus. A hymn is sung and all the children (youth included) go to down to Sunday School.
A dedicated teaching staff then takes over and children participate in their personalized programs. In these programs there are prayers, Bible stories, crafts and discussions. After the lessons are finished, we all gather for a time of music and fellowship. Then of course, it time for food!
At Valois United Church our children learn about God in a caring and relaxed atmosphere. Through our projects in Advent and Lent they learn by Jesus’ example and reach out to those less fortunate. They learn to express their love for God by our many activities such as planting bulbs or singing with our Senior Choir. Here, all children are welcome.
